Capping two rounds of a six-month national search, Kevin Gertig has been selected the City of Fort Collins' new Utilities Executive Director.
Gertig served as the City's Interim Utilities Director since the retirement of Brian Janonis in March this year, overseeing 390 employees in electric, water, stormwater and wastewater services. A passionate public servant and award-winning leader, his 38 years of industry experience includes more than three decades as a Fort Collins Utilities employee in progressive roles of increasing responsibility.
"Kevin's enthusiasm, expertise and commitment to our community is unparalleled" said City Manager, Darin Atteberry. "It says something special about the quality and caliber of City employees when we hold such a rigorous nationwide search and it culminates with an exceptional candidate from our own backyard."
Gertig is a well-recognized industry expert in a wide range of topics, including water pollution control and disaster management. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health from Colorado State University and is a member of numerous professional organizations and industry boards.
