In a letter to guests, family and friends, Jay's Bistro owner Jay Witlen announced that he and his wife Jackie have sold the downtown restaurant.
"We are now ready to close the book on this chapter of our lives and begin another leg of our adventure together. This is no doubt the most difficult thing we have ever done. We have supported up to 45 employees and their families for almost 35 years," said Witlen.
Jay and Jackie are handing the reins of the bistro and jazz lounge to Norman and Wednesday Vogel. The Vogels owned and operated a successful restaurant in Key West, Florida for over 10 years. After moving to Fort Collins with their two children, the two are anxious to get into the restaurant scene in Fort Collins.
"We have taken great care in choosing this couple to take the Jay’s legacy and move it forward. We are confident they are a perfect match for Jay’s, have similar philosophies, are family and community minded," said Witlen. "We know they will take Jay’s Bistro into the future in a positive way."
Over the years, Jay's Bistro has supported organizations such as Fort Collins Opera, Fort Collins Symphony, Children’s organizations such as CASA and Realities for Children, The Larimer County Food Bank, and Neighbor to Neighbor, among others.
Jay and Jackie will both be at Jay's Bistro on the evenings Friday, August 29 and Saturday, August 30 if any customers would like to stop by to say hello, share stories and meet the new proprietors.
